Tomorrow is my dad’s birthday, but everyone seems to be busy including myself so we decided to acknowledge it today. My dad isn’t a fan of chocolate anything so I was on a mission to make him a cake that was tasty but not boring (also not COMPLETELY labor intensive). So, I made a buttermilk cake with lemon filling and used *regretably* store bought white icing; it also had some shredded coconut here and there. The reviews from my mother, sister and father were great and I thought it tasted delicious as well. But, next time different icing. After the cake was done being made, but prior to being eaten, I finished Elke’s Texas Longhorns tattoo and after it’s healed will post pictures.

So, I went with some classmates to go see one of the LA showings of the product design documenary, “Objectified”; made by the same person that did “Helvetica”. Refer to this post for the trailer and background information. We got there unnecessarily early and walked a block or two to this great cafe, Qusqo. (More info) They had great happy hour deals and the vibe was incredible. The food was also AMAZING, and the desert… ambrosial to say the least; three types of sherbet molded into an egg shape and shelled in white chocolate whilst drizzled with milk chocolate. Can you say yum? Here are a few pictures from eating and waiting for the film to begin. Oh, and the film was great too; along with being able to question the Director afterwards.

So, now I’m back in school and have been keeping pretty busy with everything. This week has been pretty entertaining and I have a few pictures to show for it. I took a class field trip to a wood supply place that was pretty interesting, although the best part was seeing the owner’s war memoribilia collection (which included things from when he served as well as his family). And also went to Johnny Rockets then to another class.

Soon, I will be back at school not enjoying the great weather of Southern California. My fourth of July weekend was fun and being home at this point feels better. A couple of weeks ago I went out and celebrated a friend’s birthday, now the couple is engaged! Also, I made a delicious breakfast yesterday which I have documentation of, and here are some pictures from this past weekend..

Summer has begun and I have about a week and a half left of it. Ive been practicing tattooing and riding my bike a little bit, as well as going to Disneyland but that’s nothing new. Ha ha yesterday we celebrated my lil sis’s 20th bday at the house. Here are some pictures to summarize.
I have been in Anaheim for the past four days and it’s been fun. Gave corey another tat and practiced on a grapefruit as well; and I’ve also made several trips to the land of Disney.
So, something very interesting happened this week; besides Corey coming back from spending two weeks in Hawaii doing work. I have obtained a tattoo machine, well two really. And Corey has been crazy enough to request that I use his thigh for practicing. YIKES! So, I’ve been doing a lot of research and getting a better grasp on things and learning as much as possible. But, I have already given him three tattoos. I’m re-working the first one, the palm tree scene, once it heals; the second piece was a slice of pizza where I got to play with color and shading, the third one I did yesterday and it’s a shaded monotone cowboy hat with some filler around it. Here are some pictures of my equipment and what I did. I’m going to buy so fruits to practice on so that I don’t completely fill up Corey’s leg, and I’m going to work on my line work a ton, because I find shading a whole lot easier and more fun.
